In this book, Derek Philpott compiles some of his old-fashioned letters to and response by pop and rock stars. The letters often regard lyrical inaccuracies and ambiguities in their most famous songs, and often hilariously getting the wrong end of the stick.
The letter to Neil Hannon regards the song ‘
National Express’ and was first published online [1] in 2014. The message was actually passed to Neil Hannon himself thanks to guitarist
Tosh Flood and his reply was published online in August 2014.
In 2015 a crowdfunding campaign was launched to publish the letters in a book which led to this very book. Neil Hannon described the publication as “very amusing” [2].
