Wedding

On Saturday, September 4th 1999, Neil Hannon wed his childhood sweetheart Órla Little. The wedding was a low-key event, as was planned, with family and friends present. The pair wanted to avoid the excessive coverage usually applied to showbiz weddings, a recent example being Norman "Fatboy Slim" Cook and Zoe Ball's wedding.

The couple were married in the University Church, St Stephen's Green, Dublin.

The couple first met in London. Órla is also in the music business, and was originally from Drogheda. She wore a gorgeous white gown, and the bridesmaids wore grey-blue outfits.

Neil chose Bryan Mills, bass player with the DC, to be his best man. Ushers were Ivor Talbot (guitar) and Neil's brother Brendan.

Music which formed part of the service included the Divine Comedy track "Songs Of Love", from the album Casanova, used as the Father Ted theme. "The Arrival Of The Queen Of Sheba" by Handel was played as Órla was led up the aisle. Neil's father, Rev Brian Hannon, the Church of Ireland Bishop of Clogher, assisted the service.

The couple are having their honeymoon in Mexico, and will move into a house in London when they return.
