Divine Comedy showcase new album at special London shows

The Divine Comedy are to showcase songs from their new album at two intimate LONDON gigs this month, NME.COM can exclusively reveal.

Neil Hannon and the band are playing the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith on January 24 and 25.

The as-yet-untitled album, their first since 1998, will follow in March with a single due out at the end of February. The tracklisting for the album is unconfirmed, but completed tracks include 'The Stretch', 'Bad Ambassador', 'Mastermind', 'Regeneration', 'Eye Of The Needle' and 'The Beauty Regime'.

The album was recorded at London's RAK studios with producer Nigel Godrich, following his work on Radiohead's 'Kid A'.

In a recent fan Q&A session on the band's official website, Hannon nominated 'Eye Of The Needle' as his favourite new track, describing it as "class". Asked about The Divine Comedy's fondness for literary themes, Hannon commented: "Thankfully this is a virtually reference free album. I've tried to rely less and less on such reference points in our songs." He added that the theme of this album is "life, the universe and everything".
