Alternative Comedy! New Divine Comedy album on the way

The Divine Comedy mainman Neil Hannon has begun to put together a new album, the first under the name since he parted company with the rest of the band in 2001.

Hannon recently began work in a north London studio on the follow up to 2001's 'Regeneration'. The record will feature a number of songs Hannon has tried out on live acoustic tours over the past 18 months, as well as previously unheard material.

Hannon is producing the album himself, and is joined in the studio by long-standing collaborator Joby Talbot.

The album should be completed by early autumn and is slated for release by Parlophone early in 2004.
