In 2012 Other Voices became quite important, happening not only in Dingle, Ireland, but setting up other line-ups in London and Derry in 2013. The show in Derry was also part of the Derry City of Culture event in 2013, but also an opportunity to get Neil Hannon to play in his former home town. Neil Hannon said about his invitation: “As an alumni of Other Voices Dingle, it was lovely to receive an invite to appear at Other Voices Derry. Not least because Derry/Londonderry (the city that dare not speak its name) is the city of my birth! It is also the UK City of Culture this year, which I am keen to show my support for”. [1]

While Neil Hannon was at the time mostly doing solo performances, for this special occasion he invited the band Pugwash to play as his backing band. After doing a solo rendition of ‘Sunrise’, they performed together five other songs, including a Duckworth Lewis Method number.

The event was broadcast on various TV and radio channels as well as streamed live. The event was also sponsored by Deezer and subsequently, tracks were released on this platform and then as a series of albums on most download portals. This volume 2 includes a couple of songs from the performance, the hit ‘National Express’, and ‘Sunrise’ which concerns the history of Londonderry.
