The CD1 design is brown-orange to match the colours of the photo. The inscriptions on the disc are white, apart from the title which, like the center - supposed to recall a sunflower - is coloured in dark-orange.
Around the centre of the CD, we can read:
D4719 SETCDA 070 IFPI L123 Z^4WiV IFPI L123
The cover photo is black and white, and the sleeve and CD are grey to match the photo.
The CD 2 artwork uses a related photo, but printed in black & white. The sleeve has a black background then. Yet, the colour used on the CD 2 is green-grey.
Around the centre of the CD, we can read:
D4517 SETCDB 070 IFPI L123 Z^4WiV IFPI L123
The tape of
The Pop Singer’s Fear Of The Pollen Count uses the CD 1 design. The two faces of the tape are unchanged concerning the inscriptions as well as the magnetic tape: indeed, it says
plays same both sides.
Like the
A Secret History one, this UK promo comes in a plastic sleeve with (sometimes) a sticker and a card. The CD is similar to CD 2, so nothing special there!
On the card, we find the tracklisting, the release date of the single, a note about the best-of and the contact information at Setanta. The sticker describes the single: “
The Divine Comedy release new single ‘
The Pop Singer’s Fear Of The Pollen Count’ for Setanta Records on
2nd August. The track is a re-recorded version of a song that originally appeared on the band’s debut album ‘Liberation’, and is also a taster for the upcoming ‘Best Of’ collection entitled ‘A Secret History’ due out at the end of August. Hey Fever!”
Some other were shared out by
Alan James PR who affixed their own sticker : “
The Divine Comedy follow up their first Top 10 hit ‘National Express’ with a big summer single. ‘
The Pop Singer’s Fear Of The Pollen Count’ is released on
August 9th. Tons of thousands of radio listeners will already be familiar with the song after the band performed it nightly while supporting Robbie Williams on his February UK arena tour. The song is taken from their Best Of collection ‘
A Secret History’ – out in August.”
CD-R version of both CD also exists, often considered as promo, they are probably instead mastering CD-R . They are actually a simple CD-R with a printed title on it. And comes in a single jewel box with a printed insert.
The VHS features the video of ‘
The Pop Singer’s Fear Of The Pollen Count’.
