La Cigale 6-11-93 is a live recording. It was recorded at La Cigale, Paris, in November 1993 by France Inter. Why? The concert was part of a festival organised by Les Inrockuptibles with the support of Bernard Lenoir’s radio show. TDC was spotted by them and played a gig there. Usually the Festival des Inrockuptibles concerts are recorded only to be broadcast on radio, but it happens that some get released. This is the case here.
The CD is regarded as a rare item because it was available only for people who subscribed (or renewed their subscription) to Les Inrockuptibles in January 1994. Yet it’s likely some copies were also given out for free in some FNAC, given that the store sponsored the festival.
To promote the offer a subscription card was given away:
As well as an advert page with a subscription coupon that was also published in the magazine in December 1993.
The photo on the front cover was taken in Richmond Park by Kevin Westenberg during the
Liberation photo session. The one at the back was taken by Les Inrockuptibles’ photographer Renaud Montfourny.
