The Brunel Ensemble is a ensemble founded in 1993 by
Christopher Austin performing contemporary classical music or performing with pop band. The ensemble has performed works by several composers including
Joby Talbot.
It is probably Joby who introduced
Christopher Austin and the Brunel Ensemble to The Divine Comedy during the recording of
Casanova. The ensemble subsequently toured with The Divine Comedy in 1996 and 1997.
In 1997 the ensemble performed
Prokofiev’s ‘Peter And The Wolf’ in Bristol narrated by Neil Hannon.
The ensemble has released a couple of album on its own:
Robert Saxton: A Yardstick to the Stars (NMC, 2000) and
