Helen Edmundson

Helen Edmundson (born 1964) is a British playwright, who has adapted various literary classics for the stage, including Arthur Ransome’s Swallows And Amazons with Neil Hannon.

In the Nineties Edmundson wrote several plays including Flying, The Clearing, Mother Teresa is Dead, before working on adaptations. In 1996 she adapted War and Peace which was produced at the National Theatre.

She is mainly known for her adaptation of Jamila Gavin’s novel Coram Boy was premiered at the National Theatre in 2005 and for which she received a Time Out Award. Though, she also write short films for television.
