Nigel Godrich is a well known producer, famous for his works with Radiohead, Beck, Travis and Pavement.
In 2000, he was asked by Neil Hannon to produce the new Divine Comedy album on Parlophone Records,
Regeneration, although Nigel did not like the band’s music before [1].
This experience was beneficial for both, The Divine Comedy and Nigel Godrich. Indeed, for his produced records, Nigel Godrich has since often collaborated with people from the DC world such as arranger
Joby Talbot (Travis, Paul McCartney, Air) and the
Millennia Ensemble. Nigel has even invited Neil Hannon to some projects including
Band Aid 20, Charlotte Gainsbourg’s
5:55 and Air’s
Pocket Symphony.
Nigel has also worked again with The Divine Comedy by mixing the album
Absent Friends.
In 2006 Nigel launched the music series
From the Basement with Dilly Gent, James Chads and John Woollcombe. Each episode features performances from several musical artists. Neil Hannon was featured in the first episode.
