La crème de la scène parisienne reprend des chansons de Divine Comedy, on est content

On the 11th February The Divine Comedy took to the stage of the beautiful Philharmonie de Paris for our first big full band show in a fair old while. We did play a few festivals last year as a five-piece but we expanded to a much larger ensemble for this very special show.

Ondanks het niet functioneren van de cd-wisselaar, de wisselende ontvangst van de radio en één erg gedateerd cassette-bandje, verliep de heenreis voorspoedig. We kwamen om vijf uur aan bij het appartement dat we via Airbnb hadden geregeld. Een prachtige plek op de tiende verdieping met uitzicht over de wijk Cité de la Musique en op loopafstand van de concertzaal waar we die avond The Divine Comedy zouden gaan zien.

Certes The Divine Comedy n’a rien sorti depuis Bang Goes The Knighthood en 2010, cependant ce groupe de pop orchestrale, dirigé par Neil Hannon reste un incontournable en live. Depuis Bang Goes The Knighthood en 2010, The Divine Comedy n’a pas sorti de nouvel album, son compositeur, Neil Hannon étant occupé par son opéra Sevastipol. Ce qui n’empêche pas le groupe de tourner, car leur discographie affichant 25 années d’ancienneté, l’orchestre pop a de quoi varier les plaisirs sur scène. Voulant frapper fort pour le lancement de la programmation de musiques actuelles, la Philharmonie invitait le Nord-Irlandais à remplir la grande salle.
