The Divine Comedy interview: There’s no subject that you can’t laugh at | London Evening Standard
It’s a good time to be making music with the Divine Comedy. Neil Hannon’s group achieved his highest UK chart position to date with last album Foreverland, and 2017 single To The Rescue is arguably one of the finest songs he’s ever written. Hannon is warm and engaging when I meet him in a coffee shop in central London, catching him before he flies out to Ireland to work on Divine Comedy album number 11.

Hannon sings about love and the power of the state - Belfast Newsletter
Purveyor of archly ironic chamber-pop, son-of-a-Londonderry-bishop Neil Hannon has been writing acerbically brilliant lyrics to addictively jaunty melodies and thoughtful, plaintive riffs, since The Divine Comedy formed 27 years ago.

Neil Hannon puts out the idea that his birthplace, Londonderry is also known as Derry City. His home is Enniskillen but historically it’s about the mythology of Inis Ceithleann, water and land and ancient…
