It’s regularly played live, with or without an orchestra, but seldom in acoustic performance, except in 2001-2002. Usually, Neil’s trick is to play it at the beginning of the gig and to introduce the musicians during the instrumental part, like at the live at the Palladium, for instance.

It is one of the rare songs from A Short Album About Love to have been written after Casanova. Neil wrote it following a conversation with Bryan Mills during which they listened to ‘Midnight Cowboy’ by John Barry. [1]

The tune might ring a bell. Actually, the song has been used for various TV programs, ads and films in the UK and in France. Among others, the music was the base of Joby Talbot’s Tomorrow’s World theme music.

The image of the harvest (“humankind reaps what it’s sowing”) comes from the Bible.
