This absolutely Hannonesque song has never been played live.
The lyrics are full of wit and irony. Neil Hannon is very caustic about the ambition of people who want to live in a splendid house and are ready to kill for it. The narrator makes a list of all he would do to move from Primrose, a mansion block on Prince of Wales Drive, Battersea, South of London, to Overstrand, another very beautiful mansion located in the same drive. He says he’s even ready to write to the Evening Standard, a conservative newspaper. All this is said very elegantly, over a piano melody which reminds us of the old black and white films.
