Probably one of the first songs October ever recorded. A first version of ‘Passion Fruit’ is to be found on their first demo recorded in 1986 at the St. Macartin Cathedral Hall during their rehearsals. On this version, it was introduced by Neil, with a Dublin accent: “You’re listening to RTE Radio and this is October’s new single ‘Passion Fruit’” [1]. An idea that would later be used again on ‘
Theme From Casanova’.
Later, in 1987, October recorded another version in Splash Studios for their EP
October First.
The lyrics contain some elements that are to be found on later songs : “innocent crimes” (‘
Secret Garden’) or “the engine starts” (‘
Your Daddy’s Car’).
